The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has reported repeated signs of political unrest by Hungarian officials visiting the Transcarpathian region. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requests a legal assessment in this regard.

The press service of the department reported.

The ministry said that the disregard for official appeals from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry only proves the existence of a hidden target on the Hungarian side, which is unacceptable in interstate relations.

“In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs appealed to the relevant law enforcement agencies to evaluate the actions of Hungarian officials. We hope that Hungarian officials, as EU countries, understand the importance of the rule of law and no longer allow themselves to act against the laws of Ukraine or any other sovereign state. ” in the statement.

As a reminder, Hungary continues to veto meetings of the Ukraine-NATO commission. Hungary demands that Ukraine guarantee the rights of national minorities in the country.

Furthermore, at the end of July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had planned to resolve the language problem in a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, but the meeting was postponed until the epidemiological situation improved.
