Defense Minister Andriy Taran signed an order on the transfer of Ukrainian military ranks to NATO military rank codes according to NATO standard STANAG 2116, the Defense Ministry press service reported on Wednesday January 6th.

“The specified list establishes the correspondence of the coding of the military ranks of the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the military ranks of NATO. This is another step to ensure compatibility with the armed forces of the member states,” he said. Taran.

According to him, the signed order initiates the Euro-Atlantic transformation of the existing personnel management system to manage the career of military personnel in the military ranks. In turn, this will become an integral part of the draft Concept of the policy of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine until 2025.

“These decisions are designed to change the Soviet-style career management system to a modern one adopted in the armies of the leading states. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky ruled out Ukraine’s abandonment of the NATO course. It does not intend to amend the Constitution on the state’s foreign policy guidelines.
