The department said they were forced to restrict the passage of transport through the checkpoint. According to them, a large number of foreigners on the road complicates the passage of cars and represents a potential threat to the lives of citizens.
The Belarusian side was informed of the decision. Vehicles are being redirected to other checkpoints, according to the statement.
The press center of the State Border Service of Ukraine points out that this afternoon foreigners began to arrive at the checkpoints on the border with Belarus, trying to enter Ukrainian territory.
The head of the State Border Guard Service, Sergei Deineko, arrived at the scene. He met with foreigners and showed them the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the entry restriction.
“He noted that all foreign citizens must respect the laws of Ukraine and the rules governing the crossing of the state border. The head of the department also emphasized the inadmissibility of violating the border by foreigners, since they will be responsible for this, and the border guards will not allow attempts to violate the border, “said the press. -launching.
The State Border Service added that the situation is under control, the border with Belarus is heavily guarded.
Every fall, Hasidim from around the world come to Uman, where the tomb of the leader of the Bratslav Hasidim, Tzadik Nachman, is located to celebrate the New Year (Rosh Hashanah). In 2020, the celebration is scheduled for September 18-20.
From August 28 to September 28, 2020, the border of Ukraine was closed to foreigners due to the worsening of the epidemic situation, such a decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on August 26.
“Evropeyskaya Pravda,” citing sources, reported that the Cabinet’s decision was dictated by the desire to prevent Hasidim from making pilgrimages to the Rosh Hashanah celebration.
Two days before the border was closed, the Hasidim began arriving in Ukraine. About 3,000 pilgrims are expected to visit Uman.
