In addition, a positive result of the test for the determination of antigen in some cases must be confirmed by PCR.

Now, the test will be carried out in people who show signs of an acute respiratory viral infection, said the head of the Ministry of Health.

Ukraine’s Ministry of Health has updated the coronavirus testing algorithm. This was announced in a briefing on Saturday December 19 by Health Minister Maxim Stepanov.

Now, he said, the test will also be performed on people who have signs of an acute respiratory viral infection. At the same time, earlier tests were conducted for people with symptoms of COVID-19 and pneumonia.

“I would like to inform you that this week we have completely updated the algorithm for tests for the presence of coronavirus infection. PCR diagnosis is of primary importance for laboratory diagnoses. Laboratory examination, according to the new algorithm, is will be conducted for people with suspected COVID-19, clinical symptoms, any signs of other acute respiratory infections and signs of pneumonia, “he said.

Detection is also introduced by rapid antigen tests. It takes 15 minutes. It will be carried out to people with the above symptoms, contact persons or persons returning from abroad, patients who are subject to planned hospitalization.

“One more thing. A positive result of an antigen test in some cases must be confirmed by PCR. It is not necessary if there are symptoms of COVID-19, a test is performed.”, – he said.

Stepanov said that by December 23 the problem of the presence of an antigen test by family doctors should be resolved.
