Along with China and India, Ukraine accounted for 45% of world potato production in 2019.

At the end of 2019, Ukraine became the third largest potato producer in the world with an indicator of 23 million tons. This was announced on Monday, August 31 by AgroNews.

China ranks first with a 93 million ton harvest, followed by India with 51 million tonnes. Together with Ukraine, they accounted for 45% of world potato production.

Another 25% of the world potato harvest fell in Russia, the United States, Bangladesh, Germany, France, Poland, the Netherlands, Canada and Belarus.

The world potato harvest in 2019 was 371 million tons, 2.1% more than the previous year. In monetary terms, the world potato market grew 6% to $ 140.5 billion.

Potato exports increased 4.9% to 15 million tons. Of these, France accounted for 3.5 million tons, Germany – 1.9 million tons, the Netherlands – 1.8 million tons, Belgium – 1 million tons, Egypt – 0.7 million tons.

As previously reported, industrial potatoes were supplied to the Ukrainian market from the Netherlands, which were previously supposed to be used.
