The Center for Combating Disinformation (CPD) may start working in Ukraine next week. This was stated by the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, reports “Strana.ua”.
“In compliance with the order of the president [Владимира Зеленского] In the near future, in the next few days, I would say, the International Center to Counter Disinformation, which will be created on the basis of the National Security and Defense Council, will begin its work. This body is not and will not be political. The president will exercise the necessary control and supervise their activities, ”Yermak said.
He explained that the objective of the propagandists working against Ukraine is “to destabilize the situation within the country and to separate Ukraine from its allies.” That is why the authorities decided to declare war on disinformation.
According to Ukrainian Culture Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko, ITC’s main areas of work will be the identification of false information, response projects, counterattack, education and communication.
On March 9, Zelenskiy promised to permanently shut down the 112 Ukraine television channels, NewsOne and ZIK, which, according to him, “act on the order of the attacker.” In his opinion, the transmission of three TV channels should also be blocked on YouTube. In early February, Zelenskiy put into effect the decision of the Security and National Defense Council to block three opposition television channels. After that, they stopped broadcasting.
In this context, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) suspected the famous blogger and opposition politician Anatoly Shariy of high treason and incitement to ethnic hatred. According to the investigation, he carried out activities to the detriment of Ukraine’s national security in the field of information “at the request of foreign structures”. The ministry believes that since 2012, Shariy, through Russian social media, electronic media and television channels, has helped Russia’s state and non-governmental structures to carry out special intelligence operations. Shariy said Zelensky’s “mental patient” was blown up. He was soon placed on the state’s wanted list.
