To raise the issue of resuming the water supply to the annexed Crimean territory, Russia should address Ukraine as the occupying country, in accordance with humanitarian law.
This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Serhiy Kislitsa, in an interview with “Crimea. Realities”.
According to him, Russia has not yet taken that step, but has always resorted to hysteria.
“They should go to Ukraine with an official request, not threats or hysteria, you know. And then we will look, then the relevant ministries and departments will see what our reaction should be. As far as I know, today the occupying country has never addressed Ukraine. with a request to start a dialogue on this issue. Instead, we see a lot of fuss and hysteria behind the scenes of this issue, “Kislitsa said.
We will recall, recently it became known that the problems with water have been drastically aggravated in Crimea; in a few days, local authorities will reduce their supply to the southern coast of the peninsula. And the part of the Crimean steppe has been in a state of near humanitarian disaster for a month. “Strana” wrote in detail how the record drought left Crimea without water and how they want to solve the problem.
Meanwhile, the peninsula continues to accuse Ukraine of problems under the rule of the Russian Federation. According to the “head” of the annexed Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, it is necessary to initiate criminal cases against the initiators of stopping the water supply to the peninsula from Ukraine. In response, the representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Elizabeth Throssell, said that the Russian Federation is primarily responsible for supplying water to Crimea.
