Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry prepares to expand “black” list of Hungarian officials
During the election campaign in the Transcarpathian region, these officials resorted to direct campaigning, explained the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian authorities have banned two senior Hungarian officials from entering. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmitry Kuleba, as reported on Monday, October 26, the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
“One of them is the Secretary of State in the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary,” Kuleba said. According to him, during the electoral campaign in the Transcarpathian region, these officials resorted to direct campaigns.
In addition, the introduction of an entry ban into Ukraine was initiated for several more Hungarians, who actively interfered in the internal affairs of Ukraine during local elections.
“Our partners will soon be informed in detail about the fact of interference in the elections by Hungary, and we have already informed the OSCE observation mission about this,” said the foreign minister.
He stressed that Ukraine is determined to be constructive in its relations with Hungary, but will take clear and firm action if Budapest neglects Ukraine’s interests and legislation.
“Since last year, we have done a lot to renew trust in relationships, and go to solve problems. But if someone thinks that, since everything is “positive”, anything can be done, he is deeply mistaken. The principle is very simple: if they hit you, you have to hit back, “summed up the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Istvan Idyarto on Monday, October 26, to deliver a protest note.
