Electronic cigarettes and products containing tobacco for electric heating have been equated with traditional cigarettes.

The Verkhovna Rada at a meeting on Wednesday December 2, with 309 votes, introduced a ban on the sale of electronic cigarettes to children under 18 years of age.

It is also prohibited to sell tobacco products for electric heating to minors.

At the same time, a transitional period is introduced in the application of the law of 18 months.

Violation of the rules of trade in these goods will be punished with a fine of 400 to 800 minimum non-taxable income of citizens (6800 – 13,600 hryvnia).

For a repeat offense, there will be 13 600 – 23 800 hryvnia with confiscation of commercial items.

We recall, in December last year, that the Cabinet of Ministers approved a bill that will significantly strengthen the fight against smoking. In particular, it was proposed to ban all flavoring additives that make cigarettes “tasty” and encourage minors and young people to smoke.
