The airline will make a decision on flights to Baku later.
Ukraine International Airlines cancels flights to Yerevan due to the worsening conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Flights will be canceled until the situation in the region stabilizes.
The airline announced this on its Facebook page.
The decision to cancel flights was made, in particular, due to the introduction of martial law in Armenia and the announcement of mobilization.
“We assessed all possible risks and decided that it is impossible to operate flights to Yerevan until the Ukrainian aviation authorities explain our further actions and the official position of Baku and Yerevan to ensure the safety of aviation space in the skies of Azerbaijan and Armenia.” said UIA.
At the same time, the UIA continues to operate flights to Azerbaijan. Flights to Baku must be operated until October 4, 2020.
“The decision to operate flights (to Baku – ed.) Will be made taking into account the updated information,” said the airline.
Let us remind you that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh escalated this morning. Azerbaijani troops launched an offensive along the entire front line, taking control of the settlements.
After that, Armenia declared martial law in the country and announced the mobilization.
The decision to impose martial law was also made in the Azerbaijani parliament.
