UEFA is exploring the option to celebrate European football championship in the summer of 2021 in one country due to an increase in coronavirus infections in host countries.

According to the French edition Le Parisien, Russia is the main competitor for Euro 2020 (Tournament name did not change due to time change) This option is supported by the successful hosting of the 2018 World Cup and the current supposedly relatively low rates of coronavirus infection in this country.

Initially, the tournament was to be held in 12 cities in EuropeSaint Petersburg, London, Munich, Baku, Rome, Bucharest, Dublin, Copenhagen, Bilbao, Glasgow, Budapest and Amsterdam.

Former UEFA President Alexander Cheferin did not rule out reducing the number of hosts for Euro 2020 to one or more countries. It was reported that Baku could be cut as the first city due to the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
