The day begins with the PCR tests – this is the first item on the Sunday schedule of the Ukraine main team. All members of the delegation underwent morning tests to confirm the possibility of participation of each collection in the match with Switzerland.
In any case, the 21-player team will fly to Zurich this afternoon with a transfer to Lucerne and await test results there. In the morning, the “blue-yellows” held a training session on the field of the Saxony state sports academy. Traditionally, for post-match training, the team was divided into two groups.
10 outfield players, starting yesterday, worked with fitness coach Ivan Bashtov, who offered the children aerobic exercise to improve blood circulation, followed by the removal of lactic acid from the muscles.
The game against the Germans was dynamic, tough and took a lot of strength from the players. Therefore, the team’s coaching and medical staff are working to restore for the next match, in particular Alexander Zinchenko and Ruslan Malinovsky, who ended the fight in pain (Alexander had a bruised thigh muscle, Ruslan had pubalgia, chronic groin injury).
Andriy Shevchenko has not yet planned to call up new players to the national team.
For its part, a group of seven players, who yesterday did not participate in the game or entered as a substitute, underwent intensive training led by the coaching staff, which wants to balance the functional load of the entire team.
After lunch, the “blue-yellows” will leave the Steinberger Grand Hotel, which for three days was the residence of the Ukrainian team, and head to Leipzig airport.
At 15:30, the charter flight to Zurich is scheduled with an expected flight duration of an hour and a half.
Tomorrow there will be a press conference with the participation of the coach and the player of the Ukrainian national team (starting at 6.30 pm, Kiev time). In addition to the meeting with the press in Germany, the communication of the representatives of the national team in the media will take place online: the coach and the player will be in an empty conference room and the journalists will ask questions through a video link.
At 7:00 p.m., the official training of the blue-yellows will begin at the Swissporarena stadium, the first 15 minutes of which will be open to the media.
