Turkish warships went to sea for exercises
The live-fire military exercises will take place in the maritime zone south of the Anamur area.
The Turkish authorities have issued a notification to the captains of the ships in the Mediterranean, transmitted through the international automatic alert system NAVTEX. This was reported by Anadolu with reference to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense on Saturday, August 29.
So, starting today, live-fire military exercises will take place in the maritime zone south of the Anamur region.
The closure of the maritime zone to navigation in this part of the Mediterranean is valid until September 11.
Ankara is reported to be using the NAVTEX alert system for the third time in recent months.
Earlier, Turkey decided to conduct a seismic investigation in the Mediterranean Sea, despite protests from Greece. France supported Athens in this matter, in connection with which it deployed two Rafale fighters and a frigate in the eastern Mediterranean.
Ankara responded by blaming Paris for fueling tensions in the turbulent eastern Mediterranean.
