Russian scientists unraveled the mystery of the Tunguska meteorite crash in Siberia in 1908. The researchers described their theory in a series of articles in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
According to scientists, there was actually no meteorite fall on Earth. A huge iron asteroid ranging in size from 100 to 200 meters passed through the planet’s atmosphere. The flight altitude was 10 to 15 kilometers, and the speed was about 20 kilometers per second.
Scientists believe that the object could not consist of stone or ice, since the low resistance of these internally heterogeneous materials, unlike iron, leads to the rapid destruction of such bodies in the atmosphere when the body moves. If the asteroid were made of iron, it could maintain integrity and return to outer space.
“A similar object could create a shock wave that could cause trees to fall in territory that significantly exceeds 1,500 square kilometers and leave no trace of the original body on Earth’s surface.”

The passage of such an asteroid through Earth’s atmosphere could cause fires, the cause of which was the action of high-intensity light radiation generated by the car’s head.
The Tunguska phenomenon occurred in the region of the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in 1908 and was caused by the passage of a hypothetical celestial body, supposedly of cometary origin. The impact of an object on Earth’s atmosphere caused an explosion that, according to some reports, is comparable to the most powerful of the detonated hydrogen bombs. An explosion was heard 800 kilometers from the epicenter. The blast wave fell through the forest in an area of 2,000 square kilometers.
