Trump lifts restrictions imposed by pandemic
The temporary ban on entry to the United States from the People’s Republic of China and Iran remains in effect. The new measure is expected to take effect on January 26.
The current president of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order that lifts the restrictions on entry into the country that were imposed on him by the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. We are talking about citizens of the Schengen countries, Great Britain, Ireland and Brazil. This was announced on Tuesday, January 19, by CNN, citing the White House press service.
Trump has ruled that executive orders to suspend entry to the United States of several countries will end on January 26.
“The unrestricted entry into the United States of people who were in the Schengen area states, Great Britain, Ireland and Brazil, will no longer harm the interests of the United States,” the document says.
Trump signed the decree a day before President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration.
At the same time, Democratic spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in her Twitterthat Biden will not allow Trump to lift travel restrictions.
Psaki emphasized that the Biden administration does not intend to loosen restrictions on international air travel imposed amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“On the advice of its healthcare team, the Biden administration has no intention of lifting these restrictions on January 26. Rather, we plan to toughen public health measures on international travel to reduce the spread of COVID-19, “he wrote.
New, more infectious variants of the coronavirus are emerging around the world, he said, so “now is not the time to remove restrictions on international travel.”
During the last day, January 18, the number of coronavirus cases in the United States exceeded 24 million.
Recall that the adaptive quarantine in Ukraine will last until the end of March.
