Former owner and president of Metalist Alexander Yaroslavsky announced his desire and intention to revive the Kharkiv club.
In an open letter, which is addressed to the actor. Kharkov Mayor Terekhov, Kharkov City Clerk Tymchuk and Kharkov Region President Tovmasyan Yaroslavsky literally offered the following.
“Our hometown Kharkiv and our home region Kharkiv have a rich cultural legacy worthy of being carefully preserved. Among the achievements of the Kharkiv community inscribed in golden letters in the history of the region are the victories and titles of the Kharkiv club. Metalist football.
Seven bronze and “silver” medals from the national championship, matches of the European Cup and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League, a beautiful stadium for Euro 2012 and a children’s soccer academy and, most importantly, love and the pride of Kharkiv citizens across the country, this is all “Metalist”.
2025 marks the centenary of the founding of the legendary Kharkov club. It is our duty as patriots of Kharkov and the Kharkov region to celebrate this anniversary with dignity.
But so far there is only one name left from that glorious “Metalista”, and the infrastructure created for Euro 2012 is becoming unusable.
Therefore, I invite all concerned compatriots, warm-hearted fans, local authorities interested in the development of the region, to come together and revive the true heroic Metalist!
For my part, I promise to do everything I can to return to its former glory.
