President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the task of making Kharkov a Ukrainian Silicon Valley, that is, the center of the IT industry in Ukraine. In addition, the city will become the capital of the defense industry.
Zelensky wrote about this on his Telegram channel.
“Kharkiv is often called the scientific and student capital. Our task is to make the region also the capital of defense industry, mechanical engineering and information technology, a kind of Ukrainian Silicon Valley,” said the president. .
Note that Silicon Valley is a territory in the US state of California, where the headquarters of many international high-tech companies and corporations are located, including Apple, Facebook, and Google.
We will recall, earlier Zelensky instructed the government to develop bills aimed at the development of the IT industry in Ukraine. Documents must be submitted for examination by the Verkhovna Rada within three months.
Also, previously Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov said that Ukraine is ready to host Belarusian IT companies and specialists who are at risk due to the crisis in the country.
In addition, RBC-Ukraine reported that a bill to stimulate the development of information technology has been submitted to parliament.
