The owner of the Chinese social network TikTok ByteDance rejected the offer of the American company Microsoft to acquire the service. The American corporation Oracle became the sole bidder for the purchase of the application.

The New York Times writes about this.

At the same time, ByteDance, according to the publication, did not comment on its decision.

Another US corporation, Oracle, became the sole competitor for the purchase of the TikTok application, but it is unknown whether it will receive a majority stake in the company. At the same time, ByteDance previously called Oracle its “technology partner.”

The NYT noted that Microsoft has in the past expressed requirements under which it should have received the computer code from TikTok. After that, China established a requirement that prohibits the sale of the TikTok code to foreigners without prior permission from the government of the People’s Republic of China.

Recall that the US intelligence services claim that the TikTok leadership transfers personal data of users to the Chinese authorities and engages in propaganda.

US President Donald Trump said the popular Chinese app TikTok “will stop working” unless it sells its US operations in mid-September.

Trump also said that Oracle could acquire the US TikTok business.

In early August, Microsoft was reported to have suspended negotiations with Chinese company ByteDance to buy the TikTok app.

A few days later, Twitter held talks about a possible merger with TikTok.
