A US district court in Washington temporarily blocked a decree by President Donald Trump that prohibits the download of the Chinese app TikTok. The court made its decision four hours before the ban went into effect.

The Wall Street Journal reported.

According to the WSJ, the court’s decision gives TikTok more time to obtain approval from US and Chinese authorities for the pending sale of the service with Oracle and Walmart.

We will recall, on September 19, Trump said he approved the acquisition of the US segment of TikTok by Oracle and Walmart.

Earlier, Trump said that the decision on the agreement between Oracle and TikTok would be made very soon. According to him, he will discuss this issue with co-founder, Oracle chairman Larry Alison.

For the first time, Trump spoke about the possibility of banning TikTok at the end of July 2020. At the same time Microsoft suspended negotiations with the Chinese company ByteDance to buy the TikTok application.

The ban is attributed to efforts to ensure national security and protect Americans from the threat of the Chinese Communist Party.
