Tikhanovskaya spoke with her arrested husband for the first time in four months.
Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was able to speak on the phone with her husband, who was arrested to keep him out of the presidential race.
For the first time in four months, Belarusian opponent Svetlana Tikhanovskaya spoke by phone with her arrested husband Sergei, who is being held in a pre-trial detention center in Belarus. This was reported by the Tikhanovskaya press service on Telegram on Saturday, October 10.
Details of Tikhanovsky’s conversation will be announced later, the press service added.
Sergei Tikhanovsky was previously a candidate for the presidency in Belarus, but the authorities arrested him to withdraw him from the presidential race. Then Tikhanovsky’s place in the race was taken by his wife Svetlana, who later became Alexander Lukashenko’s main competitor.
Earlier today, Lukashenka met with political prisoners. The meeting took place in the KGB detention center and lasted more than four hours. Babariko, Vlasova and Salei spoke with Lukashenko.
It was previously reported that Tikhanovskaya had offered to grant Lukashenka immunity. Former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said she could not forgive Lukashenka for her crimes, but that her immunity could become a solution to the problem.
