The former presidential candidate in Belarus announced the intention of the opposition to continue carrying out protest actions in the republic.

Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said Alexander Lukashenko’s refusal of power is only a matter of time. She wrote about this in her article for The Washington Post, which ran on Monday, September 14.

“We as a country have passed the point of no return. Lukashenka has no future as the leader of this country, and his departure from power is only a matter of time,” Tikhanovskaya said.

According to her, “despite state propaganda,” time is on the side of the opposition.

“This regime is a colossus with feet of clay,” wrote the former Belarusian presidential candidate.

The opposition party confirmed that she still does not recognize the results of the presidential elections, which were announced by the Central Electoral Commission of the republic, and believes that it was she who obtained the majority of votes.

“As a candidate for the opposition movement, I obtained the majority of votes in the presidential elections on August 9,” she said.

Tikhanovskaya said the opposition will continue to hold protests in the country, and also called on the governments of other countries to “stop cooperation with the regime and impose sanctions on people who falsify election results and commit crimes against their citizens.” and he warned that all agreements other countries conclude with the current government “at their own risk.”

“We cannot guarantee that the future legally and freely elected government will adhere to such agreements,” Tikhanovskaya wrote.

Earlier, Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding his meeting with current Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
