The Baltic countries intend to expand the list of sanctions against the official Minsk, said the leader of the Belarusian opposition.

One of the leaders of the Belarusian opposition and rival of Alexander Lukashenko in the last presidential elections in Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, called on the European Union to extend sanctions against the Minsk official. This was reported on Saturday, November 14, on the Telegram channel of its press service.

The idea of ​​imposing economic sanctions on “companies associated with Lukashenka and the oligarchs close to him” has already been supported by the Latvian president, prime minister and foreign minister, whom he met on November 14 during his visit. to Riga.

Tikhanovskaya urged the Latvian National Bank to stop cooperation with Belarusbank and Belagroprombank, as well as to review contracts for the purchase of petroleum products and metal products, Belarusian timber and wood industries and alcohol. In addition, he proposed to introduce restrictions against companies that fire striking workers.

Tikhanovskaya’s Telegram channel notes that Latvia and other Baltic countries will introduce an expanded list of individual sanctions, “which may include hundreds of names of people guilty of forgery and repression.”

Earlier, Tikhanovskaya said that he intends to initiate the creation of the People’s Court in the context of the inaction of the state judicial system. He also declared Alexander Lukashenko and his accomplices a terrorist organization.
