Ukraine and the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) have accused each other of bombing their positions in Donbass. Three DPR soldiers were killed, Interfax reports on Friday, March 5.

According to the People’s Militia of the DPR, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) carried out three attacks during the last day. As a result, three people died and another was injured. In turn, the press center of the Joint Forces Operations Headquarters of Ukraine announced on a Facebook page about three violations of the ceasefire by the DPR and a sniper wounding opponents of his soldier, who is now is in serious condition.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Andriy Yermak, said that the Ukrainian army was deliberately provoked in Donbass to disrupt the truce. The Armed Forces of Ukraine will adhere to the silent regime as much as possible, but are ready to reject the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics (RPD and RPL) in case of provocations, he stressed.

On February 12, the spokesman for the Ukrainian delegation of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Oleksiy Arestovich admitted that the Ukrainian army was opening fire on the enemy in Donbas despite the ceasefire. At the same time, according to him, Ukraine cannot initiate the actual cancellation of the ceasefire, as this could be followed by “an impartial reaction from the world community”.

Earlier, the first president of Ukraine, head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG, Leonid Kravchuk, gave an interview to Lente.ru. In it, he commented on the call to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to “respond with a shot to each shot”, without knowing if it was “a provocation or not.” “If they shoot and kill, what should we do? To silence? Let’s be human! I urge you not to start shooting, but to respond, ”Kravchuk said. He assured that Ukraine will never launch a military campaign against the self-proclaimed republics.

On July 27, 2020, an indefinite ceasefire was declared in Donbass, agreed within the framework of the TCG by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE. This attempt to comply with the ceasefire agreement is the 21st in a row.
