They will close, but not all. What will the new quarantine be?

It is proposed to close public catering in Ukraine

Ukraine continues to break anti-records for the number of people infected with coronavirus, the government is ready to respond to this with a new quarantine.

The number of coronavirus infections in Ukraine has approached the psychological mark of 10,000 people per day. The Cabinet will respond to this by introducing a weekend quarantine and other restrictions.

Correspondent.net understood that they can shut down and restrict as part of anti-epidemiological measures.

Quarantine on weekends

Health Minister Maxim Stepanov announced the introduction of quarantine on weekends.

“This is when the toughest restrictions will go into effect on the weekend. Why are we doing this? To break the chain of disease transmission “, – explained Stepanov.

The essence of the weekend quarantine is that most stores will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, the catering establishments will not fully function, orders will only be taken out.

At the same time, the introduction of a curfew in the country is not yet possible.

Without a total block

Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said the government does not plan to introduce a total lockdown in Ukraine, but will strengthen the quarantine if the situation with the spread of the coronavirus worsens.

Shmyhal added that the Ukrainian economy should not suffer a total lockdown. In his opinion, “our adaptive local quarantine is very well justified.”

No sports and public events

Among the new quarantine measures, the Ministry of Health proposes to completely close the food zones, children’s rooms and entertainment areas in shopping and entertainment centers.

“We want only stores to work in shopping and entertainment centers so that people can buy what they need and so that this does not affect the economy of our country. We also want to ask the government to ban all mass cultural events. Limit the activities of gyms, fitness centers, swimming pools, “said the country’s chief sanitary physician, Viktor Lyashko.

In the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers, commercial entities will be recommended to introduce a separate schedule to serve people over 60 years of age, that is, from 10 to 12 hours. According to the Chief Medical Officer, this is not a prohibition for older people to go to stores or pharmacies at other times, but the Ministry of Health hopes that people of other age groups will not visit stores and pharmacies at this time. .

Lyashko noted that people “60 years and older” are the hardest to carry coronavirus disease and have the most complications, 71% of all COVID-19 deaths in Ukraine are among the elderly.

Will be fined

The Verkhovna Rada supported in the first reading the bill on sanctions for commercial entities that allow the absence of masks or respirators on citizens.

The document proposes to establish responsibility for violation of health legislation to companies, businessmen, institutions, organizations that allow people to enter public places or transport themselves without wearing masks or respirators.

The proposed punishment is a fine in the amount of 200 to 300 minimum non-taxable income of citizens (UAH 3400-5100).

And to stay in public buildings and transport without masks, the protocol will be drawn up on the spot.
