There were no cases of Covid in Australia after a strict quarantine

Australia has interim victory over coronavirus

The country’s health officials say the additional restrictions could ease in the coming days.

In Australia, for the first time in almost five months, not a single case of coronavirus was recorded per day, between 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30 and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, reports BBC News Ukraine.

At the same time, in the state of Victoria, which was the epicenter of the second wave of the disease in Australia, not a single case has been recorded for the second day in a row. This was preceded by a 112-day long quarantine.

The country’s health officials say the additional restrictions could ease in the coming days.

Health Secretary Greg Hunt expressed his gratitude to physicians and citizens on his Twitter account: “Thank you to all of our amazing healthcare workers and most of all to the Australian people.”

Recall that since the beginning of the pandemic, 25 million in Australia have registered around 27.5 thousand infections and 900 deaths from Covid-19. This is significantly less than in many other countries.

The country has adopted a lockdown and precautionary test strategy to monitor and control the incidence of the virus. Victoria (which accounted for 90% of coronavirus deaths) had one of the strictest quarantines in the world and imposed a curfew.
