Two weeks ago. One of the Ukrainian teams in the Champions League plays at home and does not miss a chance, while the next day the other, in a composition far from optimal, fights with dignity against the favorite written in his lair.
A week ago. The former show us two diametrically opposite halves and lose the victory, which seemed inevitable during the break. The latter cross out a tie, contrary to all the laws of logic and with incredible luck, but we prefer the word “heroism” to the word “miracle.”
The day before yesterday, yesterday. In fact, the scenario of the first round is repeating itself. First, hopelessness at home (the difference is that Borussia was faster and more bloodthirsty than Juventus: at least the tournament situation forced it to do so), then the remote optimism (here the difference lies mainly in the result of the match ).
Well, the main focus. In the role of “Dynamo” two weeks ago – “Shakhtar”, in the role of “Shakhtar” – “Dynamo”! Check out the blockbuster “They Swapped Their Bodies” in our soccer theater! What’s interesting about this season is its unpredictability.
In the UEFA rankings, Shakhtar is almost three dozen places above Borussia. But today this can only greatly distort our ideas about the balance of power. At best, they are roughly on the same level, although Tuesday’s beating of Castro’s team casts doubt on that. It was initially assumed that this is our Europa League competitor.
Interestingly, Barcelona are ahead of the Dynamo in the same 29 positions. Here we are closer to the truth, although this abyss could be deeper. On the other hand, Kuman’s team’s second place in the rankings, to put it mildly, seems far from indisputable. Of course, these are all conventions and yet some kind of information.
Both games were truly spectacular, regardless of how the fans of different clubs felt. At the same time, the fight in Barcelona in terms of the total number of brilliant episodes at the gate surpassed that in Kiev by one and a half times.
Shakhtar were able to come out of the hole as early as minute 8, after Plea’s first goal. For the home team in Kiev they had their first chance to score with the score 0: 3. They beat us painfully and sometimes with their feet.
The “Dynamo”, in my opinion, said goodbye to hopes for points in the middle of the second half, when Piquet doubled the score. After that, we had two chances from Tsygankov, the second was done, and apparently there was time to recover. There was time, there were no opportunities.
“Borussia” definitely “played enough” for a great victory. Like, however, and “Barcelona” – you must not allow yourself illusions, exaggerate the dignity of “Dynamo” and make illusions. He himself hoped to the end that he could avoid defeat. But to say that a tie would become a natural result is too much.
As they say, we have all the movements recorded. Shakhtar – Borussia: Potential scoring episode score – 1:10 (actual scoring chances – 0: 7). “Dynamo” – “Barcelona”: respectively – 5:13 (5:10). Based on elementary arithmetic logic (and taking into account the banal rule: three cases – one pattern), we will get at the start 0: 3 in favor of Borussia and 1: 4 in favor of Barcelona.
However, you can add half moments here, similar to what Tsygankov had in the middle of the first half, and then we’ll get 2: 4. But this is the maximum, guys. Another thing is that in the second half, taken separately, in terms of possibilities, we tied – 4: 4. But the first was lost in a wicket. But some of us got excited to the point that they expected to win !!!
No, I get it all, I really want something positive, especially after a tough pogrom the day before. But the facts are stubborn. And unlike the purely emotional visual perception, the author relies on the transcription of the game with specific episodes that deserve attention. And then if: “And all good things are not forgotten, and all good things are a dream.”
Generally, you are simply amazed at how people list our scoring possibilities, convincing each other and ourselves that we should have achieved a better result. At the same time, completely ignoring the opponent’s kilogram of moments, as if he were not on the field. As children, it is a word!
The Dutch referee in Kiev had almost no serious work. His English counterpart in Barcelona conceded an obvious penalty for Popov’s foul on Messi and disallowed Kendzera’s improper goal after the ball left the field in mid-air. And I had no questions for him or my fellow consultant.
Borussia were lucky with the second goal in the 17th minute, made possible by a double rebound from Shakhtar’s defenders. It must be admitted that there was only one scoring episode in the match against him, in which the scoring was opened. But it is also obvious that neither before nor after did we see Shakhtar in attack, and this own goal was the result of pressure from the guests.
Let’s not forget that in Barcelona the score could have been doubled in a real way even in the 7th minute, when Pedri hit the crossbar. And in what key would our conversation develop then? On the other hand, Kyiv’s countless goal at the beginning of the second half, shouldn’t it also be attributed to Fortuna, who has now forgiven Barça?
The standout personality of both fights, taken together, turned out to be Dynamo Nescheret goalkeeper. On account of the young goalkeeper, who was forced to “frame” need, only eight important and serious saves, not counting the “mandatory program”. And six of them, which is remarkable, with the 0: 1.
For comparison, Ter Stegen rescued “Barcelona” half the time, and three of his four saves fell in the same period of slippery scores on the scoreboard. Well, I also lost twice less, so everything is like in a pharmacy.
Of the outfield players, Borussia’s Plea was out of the competition with his 3 + 1: he played against the beast with great force. In the Barcelona game, Fati was most remembered, especially before the break, and afterwards he assisted Piquet, who, as it turned out later, scored the winning goal. And then, without exaggeration, almost at the same level: Messi, Hofmann from Borussia and Tsygankov.
I did not set a goal, of course, to land you and break the euphoria that gripped the masses after, despite everything, a decent game of “Dynamo”. He himself left the screen pleased, whereas a day ago he seemed hopelessly spoiled. Truly defeat defeat fight. But let’s not exaggerate either.
The author did what he does on this blog every time: he placed the accent of his personal viewers, point by point, focusing on aspects of football that are of interest to everyone, not just advanced connoisseurs. And for this, using his own scrupulous statistics, which he has been saving during the game by force of habit for more than ten years.
Returning to the paradoxes of the coronavirus season, I would like to point out that Shakhtar continues to fall. From a deserved victory over the favorite, through a long-suffering draw with another “monster”, to a shameful defeat of an apparently main competitor.
The Dynamo’s range of fluctuations is not that wide and they have a different path in this Champions League. On the first day of the group, Lucescu’s team only had two scoring halves: the first with Ferencváros and the second with Barcelona.
Will he be able to make an equally favorable impression on Kiev’s response? Will Castro’s charges prove that his home fiasco with Borussia is an accident?
The main paradox in this comparison is that Shakhtar can score more points and fly past the box office, while Dynamo remains the favorite in the fight for the Europa League playoffs. But here the box is simply opened: there are no rivals on the level of Ferencvaros in Shakhtar’s group.
Be that as it may, both Ukrainian clubs have already brought a lot of stormy emotions to our fans, and their spectrum is very rich. Which, unfortunately, I don’t expect today from “Dawn” with AEK. Anything, even in the sense of the result. But not strong feelings. Not today…
