The weekend quarantine will allow Ukraine to prevent the continuation of the rapid increase in the incidence of the coronavirus and fix it at the current level. A complete blockade would cause irreparable damage to the economy.
This was stated by Prime Minister Denis Shmygal on the “Hard with Vlaschenko” program.
He noted that the weekend closure will allow the economy to function as before, without its restrictions on weekdays. If the state introduced a full-blown lockdown, by the end of the year it would have trouble making budget payments, including social payments.
“A weekend closure is an opportunity, without stopping the economy during working hours, to stop this geometric growth of the pandemic and fix it at least at the current level. The closure for two weeks will not give anything, according to the calculations it should be at least three weeks, “he said. Shmygal.
According to the Prime Minister, the new measures will curb the incidence of diseases at the current level, thus preventing the collapse of the medical system.
“This will not give a decrease, but it will help to fix the incidence to the same level and will allow the medical system to process the number of cases that will come,” Shmygal emphasized.
Earlier, Health Minister Maxim Stepanov said that the length of the weekend quarantine will depend on whether the situation can be stabilized with the spread of the coronavirus.
We will recall, in the near future in Ukraine will introduce weekend quarantine. It is proposed to introduce a strict quarantine from 00:00 hours on Saturday to 00:00 hours on Monday.
It is expected that on Saturdays and Sundays the work of shopping and entertainment centers, gyms, fitness centers, swimming pools, as well as the work of theaters and public events will be prohibited. In addition, it will be prohibited to receive visitors in bars, restaurants, cafeterias and entertainment establishments.
