Water in Crimea is gradually becoming a luxury

Such a move will make it possible to spend the New Year holidays without special inconvenience and prepare for the upcoming peak holiday season, local “authorities” claim.

In annexed Crimea, the resort town of Yalta will remain without water due to the shallow depth of the reservoirs. The so-called “deputy head of city administration” Vitaly Hovhannisyan said this, Interfax reports Tuesday, November 24.

“This is the first step to save water, which is in our two reservoirs. This is not an emergency, but it is a shutdown (water at night – ed.),” Hovhannisyan said.

According to him, such a measure will allow to spend the New Year holidays without special inconveniences and prepare for the upcoming peak holiday season. In case of resupply of reservoirs, the restriction can be canceled.

Last week, Evpatoria announced the reduction of water pressure in the city’s networks at night to save money. And yesterday it became known about the closing of hot water at the end of the year.

Earlier, in Simferopol, the water supply schedule was tightened. Simferopol residents will receive even less water due to the critical situation with the filling of reservoirs amid the drought in Crimea.
