The United States of America on Sunday, November 22, formally withdrew from the Open Skies Treaty. Washington cites Russia’s failure to comply with its obligations under this treaty as the reason for its withdrawal.

The Open Skies Treaty is a multilateral agreement that allows unarmed reconnaissance aircraft to fly freely in the airspace of the signatory countries.
The agreement was concluded on March 24, 1992 in the Finnish capital by representatives of 23 OSCE member states. Among the signatories were the United States and the Russian Federation.
Recall, on May 21, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced his withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty. Trump said that Russia does not adhere to this treaty.
As RBC-Ukraine wrote, the next day Russian media reported that the Kremlin had received an official notification from the United States to withdraw from the Open Skies Treaty.
In addition, Secretary of State Pompeo pointed out that the process of withdrawing the United States from the Open Skies Treaty would last about six months and mentioned the reasons for this decision.
