Ukrainians are divided on the proposal when acting Energy Minister Yuri Vitrenko to buy gas directly from Russia.
OBOZREVATEL interviewed people on the streets of Kiev; some supported this idea and others were categorically opposed (scroll to the bottom of the page to see the video).
Those who spoke in favor explained that Ukraine buys Russian gas through Slovakia anyway, so why pay more to intermediaries?
To the comment that there is now a war with Russia, a man replied that it is not legally declared, so it is possible to trade.
But many pointed out that it was unacceptable to buy gas from an aggressor country.
There were also opinions that Ukraine has its own natural gas, it is necessary to invest in its production, then you will not have to buy from anyone.
“Ukraine is richer in minerals than Russia … It is very sad that we are taking them somewhere, not ourselves,” the woman said.
