The Ukrainian authorities allow the strengthening of the quarantine measures introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic at the level of individual regions. This was announced by the Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov, reports UNIAN.
According to Stepanov, quarantine measures have generally been relaxed in the country since May 11, but the law allows them to be tightened locally. “We already have examples of improved measures; for example, shopping and entertainment centers do not open in Kiev or beauty salons do not work in the Chernivtsi region,” said the minister.
Quarantine across Ukraine was introduced in March. The last time it was extended until May 22, while on May 11, the government lifted a number of restrictions. It allowed the work of dental offices, beauty and hair salons, lawyers, notaries, psychologists and more. Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said the Cabinet of Ministers does not consider the end date of the current quarantine to be final, Ukraine is at the peak of coronavirus infections.
As of May 12, in Ukraine, more than 16 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were registered.
