A vaccine against COVID-19 may appear in Ukraine in March 2021
Six vaccines are currently undergoing clinical trials, all in the third stage.
According to the most optimistic forecasts, a COVID-19 vaccine for mass use will appear in Ukraine in March next year. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Health, the Chief Medical Officer of the State, Viktor Lyashko, on the air of UA: First.
“My optimistic predictions: for mass use, it will be in early March 2021. This is if everything that goes through clinical trials is registered and proven safe and effective,” said Lyashko.
He clarified that now six vaccines are in clinical trials, all are already in the third stage.
Lyashko added that according to the COVAX mechanism (mechanism of global access to vaccines against COVID-19), Ukraine is guaranteed to be able to receive coronavirus vaccines for 20% of the population. This is for 8 million people.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that several Ukrainian laboratories are ready to mass-produce a vaccine against the coronavirus, which, he said, will cover both domestic needs and those of other countries.
