The Swiss team missed the victory over Spain on matchday five of the Nations League (1: 1), which made it much more difficult for them to maintain their entry in the tournament’s elite division.

In the final match of the group stage against the Ukrainian national team, the Swiss will only be satisfied with a victory, but another problem for them was serious personnel problems, which also exist in Andriy Shevchenko’s team.

As reported the official UAF website, due to positive coronavirus tests and disqualifications received at the Swiss national team location now there are 20 players.

So the head coach of future “yellow-blue” rival Vladimir Petkovich will not be able to count on Sylvan Widmer and Jordan Lotomba, who were diagnosed with COVID-19. Also, due to disqualifications, Niko Elvedi and Remo Freuler will not play against Ukraine.

If Petkovic’s coaching staff does not immediately summon new players to the Swiss national team location, then 20 players will be preparing for the next fight against Ukraine, including three goalkeepers.

The current composition of Switzerland before the match with the Ukraine team:

Goalkeepers: Jan Sommer (Borussia M), Yvon Mvogo (RB Leipzig), David von Ballmoos (Young Boys).

Defenders: Manuel Acanji (Borussia D), Loris Benito (Bordeaux, France), Eray Kumart (Basel), Bechiri Omeragich (Zurich), Ricardo Rodríguez (Torino), Fabian Cher (Newcastle).

Midfielders: Edimilson Fernandez (Mainz), Mario Gavranovic (Dinamo Zagreb), Admir Mehmedi, Renato Steffen (both – Wolfsburg), Jerdan Shakiri (Liverpool), Ruben Vargas (Augsburg), Granit Jack (Arsenal), Jibril Sou, Stephen Zuber Eintracht).

Forward: Haris Seferovich (Benfica), Brel Embolo (Borussia M).

Let us remember that the last day of the group stage of the Nations League between the Swiss and Ukrainian teams will take place on Tuesday, November 17 at 9:45 p.m. Kiev time. You can follow the events of this meeting in an online text feed, which will be available at Football.ua.
