Washington strongly opposes the use of chemical weapons, so the United States will respond to the incident with Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny as soon as his poisoning is confirmed. This was stated by the head of the State Department Mike Pompeo in an interview with the newspaper Bild, published on Monday, September 21.

“When chemical weapons were used against the Skripal, we reacted unequivocally. There is no reason to believe that the United States will not react in a proportionate way to what could happen once all the facts are available,” the secretary of state said.

At the same time, Pompeo reported that states expect the results of the study of Navalny samples from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the near future.

As reported, one of the developers of the poison, rookie Vil Mirzayanov, apologized to Navalny, who suffered the poisoning. He said that he had previously met a survivor of the Novice poisoning. His symptoms were similar to those described by the opponent.
