The investigation into the rape and torture of a woman by law enforcement officers at the Kagarlytsky police station in the Kiev region could be completed in October this year.
Oleksandr Babikov, first deputy director of the State Investigation Bureau, spoke about this on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24. According to him, a suspicion report was presented to four people and all examinations were also carried out.
“Investigators plan to complete the investigation in October. They have been investigating until now because there have been new episodes. In addition, there was new material evidence, both a gas mask and special weapons that underwent genetic testing, and identity was established.” – He noticed.
Babikov emphasized that after the Kagarlyk case became known, other victims appeared in the case. In particular, people who were also tortured by law enforcement officers turned to the RRB.
“From there, the criminal process began to expand … When they saw that it was not one or two cases, it was already necessary for the investigator to evaluate the activities of the head of the unit. This also required additional collection of evidence.” added. – added the deputy director of the RRT.
Note: Earlier, National Police Chief Igor Klimenko said that incidents such as the rape of a woman by police officers in Kagarlyk occur due to the fact that it is becoming increasingly difficult to find personnel in rural areas. He admitted that the National Police are still experiencing both functionally and morally the situation with Kagarlyk.
