Russian representatives at the Minsk talks refused to indulge in the chocolate brought by Ukrainian diplomats. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Reznikov recounted it.
Once in the trilateral contact group talks on the resolution of the Donbass conflict in Minsk Ukrainian representatives wanted to treat their colleagues with chocolate, but the Russians rejected the treat. On September 20, the first deputy head of the Ukrainian delegation to the TCG Alexei Reznikov spoke about this case on the air of the television channel Ukraine 24.
“We brought chocolate, we wanted to treat everyone present, but the Russian delegation refuses to take the chocolate off our hands. For some reason, they are worried about this. But the chocolate was bought in Germany, in a store,” he said.
According to Reznikov, in the Minsk talks, the Ukrainian representatives used certain tactics, which “put pressure on our counterparts.”
On the other hand, Russians behave in a friendly and tolerant manner during breaks and smoking breaks, but the situation in the conference room is different, the deputy prime minister noted.
Negotiations on the resolution of the conflict in Donbass are taking place within the framework of the trilateral contact group (Ukraine – OSCE – Russia) and the Normandy Four (Ukraine – Germany – France – Russia). Minsk has been a gathering place for TCGs since July 31, 2014.
