Kuleb on Russia’s return to PACE: it undermined the credibility of the organization
Dmitry Kuleba discussed with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe the consequences of the return of the Russian delegation to PACE.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmitry Kuleba, in a telephone conversation discussed with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maria Peichinovich-Burich, the consequences of the return of the Russian delegation to PACE. This was reported by the department’s press service on Friday, October 23.
Kuleba said that Russia’s return to PACE caused a crisis of confidence in the organization and undermined confidence in PACE in Ukraine and throughout Europe.
In turn, Peichinovich-Burich informed the Ukrainian minister about the results of his working visit to Moscow. Diplomats also discussed the prospects for further cooperation between Ukraine and the Council of Europe.
Recall that the resumption of full-time PACE work was postponed again. The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe cancels its third consecutive session due to the coronavirus pandemic.
It was also reported that PACE called Russia’s decision on MH17 unjustified. The submission by the Netherlands of an interstate complaint to the ECHR is not a hostile act that could justify such a negative reaction from Moscow, believes PACE.
