Ukraine youth team head coach Ruslan Rotan commented on the draw with the Danish team (1: 1) among players under 21 years of age in the qualifying match for the European Championship-2021.
– I am satisfied with the actions of my charges. The guys are great, they met all the requirements of the coaching staff, the structure of the game was visible. Ukraine’s national team has outperformed its opponent in every respect, but football is something that the strongest does not always win.
– Did the ball enter our goal in injury time in violation of the rules?
– I think the referee was wrong in this episode. And, unfortunately, this happened in a duel with the participation of the Ukrainian team, which did not allow us to take the well-deserved three points. We can no longer change anything. Let the referee deal with this UEFA mistake.
– Today, as part of the Ukrainian youth team, several newcomers have appeared on the field …
– They are good companions, did not doubt it. The guys tried to show everything we asked of them. At this rate, they will progress rapidly.
– Will such a failure make the team stronger?
– Certainly. Now all our thoughts are on playing for the Finnish national team. We will have several days to recover the children physically and mentally. We are optimistic about the future and I believe that in Helsinki the team will be able to show quality football and, with it, a positive result.
The match against Finland will take place on September 8 in Helsinki.
