The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine was unable to appoint a judge to the Constitutional Court. Only 100 popular deputies voted for the appointment, with 226 being the minimum required.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.

The candidates for this position were Yuriy Pavlenko (representing the Opposition Platform For Life faction), Olga Bodnar-Petrovskaya (representing the All-Ukrainian Batkivshchyna Association faction), Mykola Siryi (from the European Solidarity faction) and Natalia Denisenko ( de los Golos “).

In the course of the qualifying vote, Pavlenko received the highest number of votes: 154. However, only 100 MPs voted for him in the final vote.

Following the failed vote, Rada Chairman Dmitry Razumkov commissioned the profiling committee to prepare a repeat competition for the election of candidates for the post of Constitutional Court judge.

Let us remind you that yesterday the vice president of the Servants of the People faction, Yevgenia Kravchuk, said that the Verkhovna Rada on Friday 6 November could consider the question of appointing two judges to the Constitutional Court. He noted that from a procedural point of view, “everything is observed there.” “Both the contest and the committee accepted the candidacies. The contest was held at the beginning of the year,” said the parliamentarian.

As RBC-Ukraine wrote, information emerged today that the judges, who did not support the abolition of liability for inaccurate declaration, refused to participate in the work of the Constitutional Court.

Thus, more than 200 popular deputies asked the judges of the Constitutional Court, who supported the scandalous decision on the electronic declaration, to resign or resign voluntarily.
