The Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada did not meet to consider the draft state budget for 2021. There were not enough deputies to start the meeting.

Roman Kaptelov, People’s MP for Servant of the People, spoke about this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.

He said that the head of the committee, Yuri Aristov, opened the meeting and closed it immediately due to a lack of a quorum.

“There was no quorum. Many deputies got sick. Yes, with coronavirus, but I don’t know the details. Aristov opened the committee, there is no quorum, he closed it and said that we are still waiting,” Kaptelov said.

He also noted that more than 2,300 amendments were submitted to the bill. In the near future, the Rada secretariat will announce the date for consideration of the budget by the committee.

“Some 2305 amendments with kopecks were presented to the state budget. Now the secretariat will give some deadlines and will inform in advance,” the deputy explained.

Yaroslav Zheleznyak, Golos people’s MP and deputy head of the budget committee, said 11 of the 18 MPs needed for a quorum were absent from the meeting.

Parliament said that the state budget project for 2021 in first reading will be considered already on October 20, because this is the deadline for its adoption as a basis. But now its preliminary approval on this date is unlikely.
