Ukraine may tighten quarantine (RBC-Ukraine Collage)
Ukraine’s chief sanitary physician called for conditions for the introduction of a strict quarantine
In Ukraine, the number of coronavirus cases is growing and residents of the country fear the complete closure of all regions due to strict quarantine. Ukraine’s chief medical officer, Viktor Lyashko, mentioned the conditions for a complete shutdown and explained what must be done to prevent it.
As Viktor Lyashko said in an interview for Novoye Vremya, entrepreneurs must create the conditions for people to move in peace.
“If it is a question of restaurants, then the tables should be located at a distance of 1.5 meters. In such conditions, if we all observe them, there should not be a complete quarantine in our country. The limit is the number of occupied hospital beds. Otherwise, the health system can end up on the brink of collapse, because in addition to covid patients, we still have people with heart attacks, strokes and other diseases, who must be given emergency care, “explained Lyashko.
He noted that in general, the number of beds in the country is 50%, but in different regions there are completely different dynamics. Lyashko said whether the introduction of a strict quarantine after October 25 in Ukraine is worth fearing.
“I repeat: no one will close anyone if we adhere to sanitary regulations and the epidemic can be controlled. And regarding the national closure, it would not be tied to any date. You can go to the closure before October 25 and later.” It just depends on the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus infection. Other countries are setting an example. Israel has already left. There is little hope that we will not repeat this experience, although we must do everything possible for it, “said the chief health doctor, adding that in many ways the situation depends on how people follow safety measures and regulations.
“People do not adhere to these rules until someone of their loved ones arrives at the hospital, especially in intensive care. Because it seems that this is such a mild disease and easy to tolerate. Yes, many people tolerate it easily, but at the same time At the time, when we talk about the need to wear a mask, we are talking about caring for the elderly, “Lyashko explained.
We will recall, earlier we wrote that only two regions are ready to weaken the quarantine in Ukraine.
They also talked about the fact that at the peak of COVID-19 incidence, up to five thousand patients per day are forecast.
