On Sunday, September 6, massive protests are taking place in all regions of Belarus. Approximately 10 people have already been arrested in Minsk.
TASS was informed about this by the press secretary of the Belarusian Interior Ministry Olga Chemodanova.
“Massive unauthorized protest actions are taking place in almost all regions and in Minsk, they are not numerous. At the moment there are about 10 detainees in protest actions, so far only in Minsk, in other regions they have not been detained, “Chemodanova said.
Let us remind you that on September 6, protesters in Minsk and other cities in Belarus demonstrated for the 29th day in a row.
Among the main reasons for the protesters’ discontent are the results of the August 9 elections, in which Lukashenko received more than 80% of the support of the voters, which, in the opinion of the active part of society, is a falsification. Furthermore, protesters are unhappy with the mass arrests and violence by security forces during the protests.
Earlier, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius said that the European Union must promote democracy and oppose Russia’s influence in Belarus. According to her, the EU’s inaction towards Belarus undermines the credibility of its foreign policy.
