According to Shevchenko, the Spanish were good at maneuvering, constantly changing the range of attack and had advantage on the flanks, while the Ukrainians were not strong enough to resist.
“In accordance with the demands of modern football, especially in a confrontation with such strong rivals, when you are alone, you have to play for the moment,” the expert summarized.
One of the leaders of the national team, Oleksandr Zinchenko, during post-match remarks also spoke about the Ukrainian team’s lack of preparation. However, he warned many mistakes by Ukrainian footballers and said that Spain “plays at a different level”, and the yellowish players still “have room to grow.”
