Who Wins the US Presidential Election – Voting Results
At 1 p.m. Kiev time, Biden had a marginal advantage in Nevada and Wisconsin, while Trump had an equally small advantage in Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Although there are tens of thousands of ballots yet to be counted in these states, many of them were sent by voters from districts adjacent to major cities that traditionally support Democrats.
«Exodus [голосования] They will almost certainly identify the millions of absentee votes that were used first in this election, but most likely they will be counted as the last, ”notes Reuters.
The agency describes two scenarios in which both Donald Trump and Joe Biden can win.
How Trump Can Beat
The most likely route to victory for the current president of the United States is through Pennsylvania, a state he conquered in 2016. If he wins again there, he will only have three other states to win. [из тех шести, где еще неизвестен исход гонки]to get 270 electoral votes. If Trump doesn’t win in Pennsylvania, he will have to win the other five.
After counting about 75% of the votes, Trump was leading the way in Pennsylvania. (gaining about 55% versus 43% for Biden).
However, the state’s largest cities, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, have so far only relayed a small part of the data on the result of the vote, and the result is usually in favor of the Democrats. Additionally, many of the ballots that have yet to be counted have been mailed, and the state says that many more Democrats than Republicans have participated in the vote this year.
Pennsylvania has another downside: Local courts have ruled to count ballots mailed by Tuesday. [решающего дня голосования], here lasted at least until Friday, until they arrived by mail.
How can Biden beat?
For Biden, the most likely route to victory is through Nevada and Wisconsin. These are the states where he had a slight advantage early Wednesday morning as the final count was being worked out. If Biden wins these states, it will be enough for him to win Georgia, Michigan or Pennsylvania as well. (in one of the states – approx. ed), writes Reuters.
In Michigan, Trump was leading with 51% to Biden’s 47%, but many of the votes that have yet to be counted are the mail-in vote in Detroit and its suburbs, where Democrats have historically gained the upper hand in the elections.
Election officials in Nevada, where Biden had a slight edge (49.3% vs. 48.7% for Trump) after counting 86% of the votes, said they would continue this process only on Thursday morning. (by local time).
