The Constitutional Court of Moldova has suspended the operation of the law, limiting the powers of the president. It is about reassigning the Information and Security Service (ISS) of Moldova.
It is reported by moldpres.md.
It is reported that by means of this law, the Moldovan parliament excluded from the competence of the president the ability to coordinate the activities of the Information and Security Service, as well as to appoint the leadership of the ISS. Furthermore, the secret service is completely under parliamentary control.
It is also reported that the court’s decision was announced upon receiving a request from one of the members of parliament. The consideration date for this application will be announced later.
We will recall, it was previously reported that before the inauguration of the elected president of Moldova Maia Sandu, the local parliament removed the Information and Security Service from the subordination of the president.
Sandu called this an attempt to seize power and led hundreds of people to a mass demonstration in Chisinau. His supporters demanded the resignation of the current government and the dissolution of parliament with early elections.
