In France, in the commune of Lieron, which is located in the Brittany region, the police cannot disperse a large illegal youth party. It takes place for the second day, despite quarantine restrictions.
BFM TV reports.
The number of participants in the party, which began the night of December 31, is estimated at 2,500 people.
There are now 150 police officers on the scene, but their strength alone is enough to guard the perimeter and block the arrival of new participants to the party, although the police admit they are still entering. Delusional supporters from different parts of France, as well as other EU states, are known to have gathered there.
Police add that they were aware of the plans to host a party on December 31, but were unable to detain the participants as they arrived at the hangar before curfew.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin called a meeting with the prefect and members of the cabinet.
“I am working with them tonight to restore normalcy while maintaining the highest physical integrity of all,” he said.
The media cites comments from party participants who say they are willing to pay a fine (135 euros) for their participation in an illegal party, but want to rest as they see fit.
The prefecture clarifies that the Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the illegal organization of a festive musical gathering, deliberate violence against people with state power, as well as drug distribution and quarantine violation.
Previously it was reported that a party was held in the commune of Lieron with the participation of two thousand people. While trying to disperse, clashes broke out with police officers. Law enforcement officials had to withdraw and control access to the site in anticipation of reinforcements.
We recall, the French Minister of Health Olivier Veran did not rule out the introduction of a third blockade in the country in case of worsening of the situation with coronavirus. Now the burden on the French healthcare system remains high.
