Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1.055 million people have died from the COVID-19 coronavirus infection worldwide.
On the morning of October 8, 36.077 million cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection were registered in the world (35.732 million were reported the day before). This is evidenced by data from the US Johns Hopkins University, which tracks the spread of the disease.
The total number of victims of the disease has reached 1,055 million and 25.14 million people have already recovered.
The first place in the spread of the disease is still the United States (7.55 million cases, 2.99 million recovered, 211.8 thousand deaths).
The five countries with the highest incidence rates also include:
- India – 6.757 million cases, 104.6 thousand deaths, 5.663 million recovered;
- Brazil: the number of cases exceeded 5 million, 4.5 million people recovered, 148.2 thousand died;
- Russia: 1,242 million cases, 21.8 thousand deaths, 991.3 thousand recovered;
- Colombia – 877 thousand cases, almost 774 thousand recovered, 27.2 thousand deaths.
Ukraine in the university ranking remains 25th in the world in terms of the spread of the disease.
An outbreak of coronavirus infection began in late 2019 in China. March 11, 2020 World Health Organization declared the spread of the coronavirus a pandemic.
