The department added that the Russian Center, founded in 1998, is the only state institution of the Russian Federation in Ukraine with functions of cultural representation.
Finally, the NSDC said that it would consider the issue of terminating the activities of this organization, if a corresponding presentation is received from the president or another subject of legislative initiative.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported on the record number of Shevchenko monuments. Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko became the world record holder for the number of monuments erected to him: 99 monuments in 44 countries and more than a thousand in Ukraine.
