Half of the gas tariff for the population of Ukraine is the cost of process gas, said the head of the National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the field of energy and utilities, Valeriy Tarasyuk.

The gas tariff for the Ukrainian population consists of three main parts, said Valeriy Tarasyuk, chairman of the National Commission for State Regulation of Energy and Utilities (NEURC), at the Ukraine Payment Forum 30.

This was reported to UNN on February 16.

“Up to 50% of the rate is the cost of the process gas. To deliver gas to the house, the company must use a certain amount of gas to transport its main volume,” Tarasyuk said.

30% of the rate is the salary of the workers of the gas distribution companies. The remaining 20% is repair, maintenance and maintenance of dispatch emergency services.

The head of NKREKU noted that the cost of process gas is 5850 UAH (excluding VAT) for 1 thousand m³.

“When we talk about the need to reduce the natural gas distribution or transportation rate, we must take into account each of the components of this rate. If we reduce the cost of process gas, which depends on the market price of natural gas. gas, then the gas transmission system operator will incur losses, creating a collapse. Or to reduce the salary of qualified personnel of gas distribution companies, which on average is about 14 thousand UAH and is definitely not the highest in the country? “- said Tarasyuk.

He stressed that in case of reducing the cost of repairs and maintenance of emergency dispatch services, “we will expect man-made disasters.”

“For this, there is a regulator, in order to approach this issue carefully and determine the correct tariff figures,” explained Tarasyuk.

From August 1, 2020 in Ukraine gas market started… The population can freely change providers. Until August 1, the cost of gas for domestic consumers was uniform and was published on the 22nd of each month.

After the protests of the Ukrainians, in an extraordinary meeting on January 18, 2021, the government set the maximum price of gas for the population at 6.99 UAH per 1 m³. The price will remain in effect until the end of the quarantine introduced in relation to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection, or until the end of the heating season.

In total, about 50 companies supply gas to the population. After limiting the tariff, Naftogaz set the price below the limit – in February under the monthly tariff plan – 6.86 UAH for 1 m³ VAT included.
