In Ukraine, more than 300 doctors died from the COVID-19 coronavirus disease, but only 53 of them received compensation of 1.5 million UAH.
As the Minister of Social Policy Marina Lazebnaya said in an interview with Ukraine 24, compensation for the death of medical workers is set after an investigation by a special commission. However, there are bureaucratic procedures that complicate the payment process.
“Look, when the system did not work that way, today it is, of course, very clumsy. Therefore, this long bureaucratic history, with these commissions, complicates the process of helping the families of deceased doctors. Heroes, but there are difficulties. I admit it. ” she.
Another issue is that many times there is no one to send the payments, since the deceased had no relatives.
“We make payments, but not even relatives are everywhere, acts come, we start looking, but there are no relatives,” Lazebnaya emphasized.
At the same time, he recalled that a separate program is being worked on to help doctors who have received disabilities due to coronavirus infection while performing professional tasks.
As OBOZREVATEL reported, on December 16, medical workers protested in the government quarter of Kiev, demanding that the authorities increase their wages as well as payments for the coronavirus infection at work.
Earlier, the deputy of the European Solidarity party, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Health Affairs Committee, Yana Zinkevich, said that the families of the doctors who died from COVID-19 are forced to fight for compensation.
